In recent years a lot of news about “Orphaned” oil and gas wells, and the liability for the respective clean up. The most recent proposal put forth to address the issue simply involves classifying the abandoned wells Alberta historic sites, preventing any further industrial work on the sites. The proposal is intended to solve the issue simply by creating a legal impasse.
The impasse should now resolve all issues of the question “what to do with orphaned oil wells” and no one should ever bring it up again. The issue should now be clearly out of sight and therefore out of mind. The media is now forecasted to clench up on the matter and wipe away any trace even if it needs to try a bit more in about twenty minutes.
When the man behind this proposal was questioned about “the leaking gas” he curtly responded “I am so sorry I really didn’t think you would smell that.” After being met with blank stares and an awkward silence he the sites are heritage sites now unfortunately there’s nothing that can be done from an industrial stand point to address the issue.
